Caribou Cabin

Our good friend Kathryn came for a visit from Ontario and decided she needed to get on some skis. What she lacks in experience, she makes up for in enthusiasm, so we agreed to take her on a backcountry ski trip. Here she is showing off some of that enthusiasm on the pre-trip xc training expedition.

We chose a suitable location for a beginner and a 6-month old, loaded Cassia up, and headed off.

Simmers carried the baguettes (to go with the cheese fondue, but of course).

 Surface hoar

Our hut entertainment consisted of this: hand someone a soother, get them to put it in upside down and see if they can flip it right-side-up using only their mouth. Surprisingly difficult. And humourous.

And then we skied some sick lines.

Here's the "hand-cam" shot of Dad skiing down with little C. I think Dad's slightly more excited than Cassia.

Banana and a Snore

 Cassia nomming on some banana.

 Not so sure about this.

Coming round to it.

And here's a video of C sleeping. Yes, I know, not exactly action-packed. But there's a super-cute snore at 5 seconds. You know you're a mom when...

Partay!

Cassia partying with her buds, Reese and Olive.

The party got a bit wild and the babes had a bit too much to drink. Reese passed out and Olive just couldn't keep hers down. I'm proud to say that Cassia seemed to hold her own though.

Evil Genius

We left Cassia with this man, and this is what he had her reading. Do we need a new babysitter?

Rolling Over!

A couple of mornings ago Cassia managed to roll from her back onto her stomach. I didn't witness the actual rolling and I have to admit I forgot about it. That afternoon as I was making a salad, she would end up on her stomach every time I turned around. Now we can't keep her on her back. This wouldn't be a problem except she doesn't like being on her stomach and she doesn't know how to go the other way yet. We're doing a lot of baby flipping these days.

Here's the proof, complete with proud mom cheering:

Bits and Bobs

Went for a wander with some friends in Kelowna.
Tempted to head back there with our mountain bikes!

Cassia enjoyed her first taste of apple!

We bought a couch to match our beaver.

Cassia's first ski tour!

We took Cassia out to "The Wrist" (at the bottom of the fingers) today. Good times!
First time in the backpack.

Mom and Cassia take a snack break.
