Galiano

We went to a wedding on Galiano Island for a weekend. We took zero (yes zero) pictures of the wedding itself.  I blame it on the fact that we were too busy playing music and being parents. And laziness is probably to blame too. This photo is by our friend Blair. I totally stole it off his Facebook page. Thanks Blair!

Hiked up Mount Galiano. Fun for the whole family.

 Gulf Islands.

 Zonculated in the baby carrier.

Kootenay Joe Farm

Went for a visit to Kootenay Joe Farm, home of Stellar Seeds. A lovely time deep in the Kootenays.

Fresh bread

Lunch time sausages.

Tools by James.
(As in James took the photo. He didn't make the tools.)

Lettuce. If you buy Stellar Seeds, these may be the your 2013 salad's parents.

Bracken fern.
I love how the little side fiddleheads (or croziers if you want a new nerdy word) look like curled up cat paws. So cute.

Greenhouse babies.

Squash

The beach.

Looking down Kootenay Lake.

Gar creek which provides the farm with water had a big avalanche this year and there is still heaps of debris and snow in the creek bed. Should be interesting to watch melt out. (Note: this is the creek that ended up being the site of the massive and devastating landslide in Johnsons Landing in July of this year.)

Driveway which was blocked by the avalanche.

Hamming it up for the camera.

Huckleberries - a hit.

Goodbye Nevis

Sad to say that little Benjamin Nevis was run over by a car yesterday. We miss you sweet, furry, grey cat.

Patient Kitty

baby vs cat from Nature Nerd on Vimeo.

Cassia is 9 months old today! She has now been out of my body for as long as she was in it. To celebrate the event, she tormented her favourite cat.

Arrow-leaved Balsamroot

Following our vacation in Cumberland, we spent a week in Penticton for the CAA/CAC AGM. The arrow-leaved balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata) was in full bloom.
